An animated ad from Cred which was released recently featured 2 famous and beloved children’s characters: Chacha Choudhary and Suppandi. Both of them are iconic Indian comic book characters known for their unique identities.

Not an ad?

Even though Cred titles this “Not an ad”, Chacha Choudhary and Suppandi are cast or appropriately put, animated to speak in Cred’s style of usual ad-making.

Chacha Choudhary replaces Jim Sarbh in this ad, who is Cred’s usual introductory speaker for such ads. Raghubir Yadav, who has been lending his voice for the character in television series; repeats the written monologue for him. Chacha Choudhary was created in 1971 and as is expected of people from his time; his knowledge about current times is limited. Thus, his beliefs of normalcy that can be achieved through technology are still rooted in the 20th century.

Suppandi who is often mistaken for a simpleton but often resides near the realms of idiocy in the comics; has diverged from this nature.  He is the director of this ad and noticing Chacha Choudhary straying away from script budges in to stop his antics.

Chacha Choudhary must have been made aware of the script that Cred follows; in the view that he can’t follow the disbelief part of the monologue as seriously as Jim Sarbh usually does. Suppandi clears his illusions by drawing facts from the current world we live in.

Chacha Ji (Trans: A formal and respectful term for an uncle), doesn’t approve of Suppandi’s deliverance of facts and snubs him. He takes his walking stick and walks out of the shoot; but not before he is done boasting about the speed of his brain; a well-known dialogue of his.

Even though it might seem like Chacha Choudhary isn’t open to new ideas; in reality, he was secretly pleased with the idea of cryptocurrencies. He asks his trusty sidekick Sabu, to find out more about NFTs on his behalf.
